The schiff base derived from acetylacetone and benzidine has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis,IR,1H NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal belongs to triclinic system, the space group is P-1,with the crystal cell parameters a=0.7637(6),b=0.8069(6),c=0.8838(6)nm,α=70.095(2),β=68.809(3),γ=66.769(2)°,V=0.454(6)nm3,Z=1,Dc=1.274g/cm3,Mr=348.43,R1 =0.0607,wR2=0.1859.The structural analysis for the schiff base indicates it exists in the form of enamine in solid state.1D chains have been formed via the intermolecular hydrogen bonds, and the C-H-π interactions between the chains result in a ladder-like layers for the compound.
