Five titanocene amino acid complexes, Cp 2Ti(O 2CCH 2NHC 6H 4R) 2 (R=H, p Cl, p OC 2H 5, m CH 3, m Cl), have been prepared in a two phase system(CHCl 3/H 2O), by reacting Cp 2TiCl 2 with corresponding amino acids (RC 6H 4NHCH 2COOH ). The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectra. The results show that the carboxyl oxygen is bound to Ti to form two molecular amino acid complex and the carboxyl itself in amino acid acts as monodentate ligand. In comparison with synthesis in aqueous or anhydrolytic medium, the reaction in two phase medium appears more simply and conveniently, with yield being higher.
