Influence Factors of an All-Optical Recovered Clock from Two-Section DFB Lasers

All-optical clock recovery by a two-section DFB laser with different injection wavelengths is demonstrated experimentally at 38.5 GHz.An optical clock with a root-mean-square timing jitter of 250 fs and an extinction ratio of 12.1 dB is obtained with 1551 nm injection.The timing jitter of the recovered clock is further investigated for various intensity ratios of the two DFB emission modes.

Determining the feature values of parameters indicating the critical states of molten metal bridge in short circuit transfer被引量:1

Short circuit transfer involves bridging between the consumable electrode and the weld pool, associated with variations of electrical parameters which characterize the change of molten metal bridge state and are very important for the control of .spatter. In this paper, electrical process parameters and short circuit transfer images were simultaneously recorded with a LabView-based synchronous sensing and visualizing system. The arc^bridge resistance and derivatives of welding current, arc voltage and arc resistance at various instants were calculated by means of offline analysis of the welding current, arc voltage and droplet images. Parameters and their feature values indicating the onset of short circuit and the oncoming necking-down of molten metal bridge were determined. Using the calculated feature values, bridge-state-feedback control for .short circuit transfer was realized with a spatter rate less than 0. 25%.

Alterations in gut microbiota are related to metabolite profiles in spinal cord injury被引量:1

Studies have shown that gut microbiota metabolites can enter the central nervous system via the blood-spinal cord barrier and cause neuroinflammation, thus constituting secondary injury after spinal cord injury. To investigate the correlation between gut microbiota and metabolites and the possible mechanism underlying the effects of gut microbiota on secondary injury after spinal cord injury, in this study, we established mouse models of T8–T10 traumatic spinal cord injury. We used 16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and metabolomics to reveal the changes in gut microbiota and metabolites in fecal samples from the mouse model. Results showed a severe gut microbiota disturbance after spinal cord injury, which included marked increases in pro-inflammatory bacteria, such as Shigella, Bacteroides, Rikenella, Staphylococcus, and Mucispirillum and decreases in anti-inflammatory bacteria, such as Lactobacillus, Allobaculum, and Sutterella. Meanwhile, we identified 27 metabolites that decreased and 320 metabolites that increased in the injured spinal cord. Combined with pathway enrichment analysis, five markedly differential amino acids(L-leucine, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, L-isoleucine and L-valine) were screened out, which play a pivotal role in activating oxidative stress and inflammatory responses following spinal cord injury. Integrated correlation analysis indicated that the alteration of gut microbiota was related to the differences in amino acids, which suggests that disturbances in gut microbiota might participate in the secondary injury through the accumulation of partial metabolites that activate oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. Findings from this study provide a new theoretical basis for improving the secondary injury after spinal cord injury through fecal microbial transplantation.

Statistically Downscaled Summer Rainfall over the Middle-Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River被引量:6

The summer rainfall over the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River valley (YRSR) has been estimated with a multi-linear regression model using principal atmospheric modes derived from a 500 hPa geopotential height and a 700 hPa zonal vapor flux over the domain of East Asia and the West Pacific.The model was developed using data from 1958 92 and validated with an independent prediction from 1993 2008.The independent prediction was efficient in predicting the YRSR with a correlation coefficient of 0.72 and a relative root mean square error of 18%.The downscaling model was applied to two general circulation models (GCMs) of Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model (FGOALS) and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory coupled climate model version 2.1 (GFDL-CM2.1) to project rainfall for present and future climate under B1 and A1B emission scenarios.The downscaled results pro-vided a closer representation of the observation compared to the raw models in the present climate.In addition,compared to the inconsistent prediction directly from dif-ferent GCMs,the downscaled results provided a consistent projection for this half-century,which indicated a clear increase in the YRSR.Under the B1 emission scenario,the rainfall could increase by an average of 11.9% until 2011 25 and 17.2% until 2036 50 from the current state;under the A1B emission scenario,rainfall could increase by an average of 15.5% until 2011 25 and 25.3% until 2036 50 from the current state.Moreover,the increased rate was faster in the following decade (2011 25) than the latter of this half-century (2036 50) under both emissions.

Charged Hadron Multiplicity at RHIC and LHC Energies from Color Glass Condensate被引量:1

We investigate charged hadron production at RHIC and LHC energies in the framework of color glass condensate.Our study gives a very good description of the experimental data of inclusive charged hadron production in proton–proton collisions at both RHIC and LHC energies.The saturation scale is treated as a free parameter,which will reduce the uncertainties from fitting low-energy experimental data and the modeling of the saturation momentum.We find a reasonable value of the saturation scale Q_(s)~1 GeV,which is consistent with the theoretical findings.The running coupling effect is taken into account,and it is found that it plays an important role in the description of the experimental data.We provide quantitative predictions of the rapidity dependence of the inclusive charged hadron production for the upcoming LHC experiment in proton–proton collisions at√s=14 TeV.

Some recent developments in modeling quantile treatment effects被引量:2

This paper provides a selective review of the recent developments on econometric/statistical modeling in quantile treatment effects under both selection on observables and on unobservables.First,we discuss identification,estimation and inference of quantile treatment effects under the framework of selection on observables.Then,we consider the case where the treatment variable is endogenous or self-selected,for which an instrumental variable method provides a powerful tool to tackle this problem.Finally,some extensions are discussed to the data-rich environments,to the regression discontinuity design,and some other approaches to identify quantile treatment effects are also discussed.In particular,some future research works in this area are addressed.

Statistical Analysis and Evaluation of Macroeconomic Policies: A Selective Review被引量:7

In this paper,we highlight some recent developments of a new route to evaluate macroeconomic policy effects,which are investigated under the framework with potential outcomes.First,this paper begins with a brief introduction of the basic model setup in modern econometric analysis of program evaluation.Secondly,primary attention goes to the focus on causal effect estimation of macroeconomic policy with single time series data together with some extensions to multiple time series data.Furthermore,we examine the connection of this new approach to traditional macroeconomic models for policy analysis and evaluation.Finally,we conclude by addressing some possible future research directions in statistics and econometrics.

Proteomic Analysis of Rice Leaves Shows the Different Regulations to Osmotic Stress and Stress Signals被引量:6

Following the idea of partial root-zone drying (PRD) in crop cultivation,the morphological and physiological responses to partial root osmotic stress (PROS) and whole root osmotic stress (WROS) were investigated in rice.WROS caused stress symptoms like leaf rolling and membrane leakage.PROS stimulated stress signals,but did not cause severe leaf damage.By proteomic analysis,a total of 58 proteins showed differential expression after one or both treatments,and functional classification of these proteins suggests that stress signals regulate photosynthesis,carbohydrate and energy metabolism.Two other proteins (anthranilate synthase and submergence-induced nickel-binding protein) were upregulated only in the PROS plants,indicating their important roles in stress resistance.Additionally,more enzymes were involved in stress defense,redox homeostasis,lignin and ethylene synthesis in WROS leaves,suggesting a more comprehensive regulatory mechanism induced by osmotic stress.This study provides new insights into the complex molecular networks within plant leaves involved in the adaptation to osmotic stress and stress signals.

Effect of ultraviolet irradiation and chlorination on ampicillin-resistant Escherichia coli and its ampicillin resistance gene被引量:4

Antibiotic resistance is a serious public health risk that may spread via potable and reclaimed water. Effective disinfection is important for inactivation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and disruption of antibiotic resistance genes. Ampicillin is a widely prescribed antibiotic but its effectiveness is increasingly undermined by resistance. In this study, changes in ampicillin resistance for Escherichia coli (E. coli) CGMCC 1.1595 were analyzed after exposure to different doses of ultraviolet (UV) or chlorine, and damage incurred by the plasmid encoding ampicillin resistance gene blaTEM-1 was assessed. We reported a greater stability in ampicillinresistant E. coli CGMCC 1.1595 after UV irradiation or chlorination when compared with previously published data for other E. coli strains. UV irradiation and chlorination led to a shift in the mortality frequency distributions of ampicillin-resistant E. coli when subse-quently exposed to ampicillin. The ampicillin hemiinhibitory concentration (IC5o) without disinfection was 3800mg·L^-1, and an increment was observed after UV irradiation or chlorination. The IC50 of ampicillin-resistant E. coli was 1.5-fold higher at a UV dose of 40 mJ·cm^-2, and was 1.4-fold higher when exposed to 2.0 mg·L^-1 chlorine. These results indicate that UV irradiation and chlorination can potentially increase the risk of selection for E. coli strains with high ampicillin resistance. There was no evident damage to blaTEM-1 after 1-10 mg Cl2· L^-1 chlorination, while a UV dose of 80 mJ·cm^-2 yielded a damage ratio for blaTEM-1 of approximately 1.2-log.Therefore, high UV doses are required for effective disruption of antibiotic resistance genes in bacteria.
