Six rhesus monkeys were selected, L 1 segment of spinal cord was smashed to injury with force of 150 GCF and 200 GCF according to Allen’s method. After injury, all of them had paralysis of lower extremity. Instantly electropuncture was applied on acupoints as Jiaji,Chensan and Huantiao. The electropuncture was 6 mA in intensity and 50 Hz in frequency. The treatment was given every other day. Every time the treatment last for 20 minutes. Those monkeys injuried by force of 150 GCF couldn’t move a little by lower extremity until 3 weeks and move easily until 4 weeks, but with feeble myodynamia and better general condition. Those monkeys injuried by force of 200 GCF couldn’t move 4 weeks later and with nice general condition. Both groups hadn’t appearance of complication. Tissue slice of injuried spinal cord matter in addition to bleeding and nicrosis around central canal. No HRP labelled granule was found among various cells in red nucleus and reticular structure by HRP tracer method. It suggested no regeneration of long fibrous binds. In addition, no satisfactory results were achived in the test of monoclonal antibody in neuropodin by immunohistochemical method. The experimental results that no regeneration of neurofivers in the treatment of spinal cord injury with acupuncture. However, acupuncture can enhance the body’s resistance to paralysis, improve the general condition,avoid complication and death.
